Belletetes Inc. – Building Materials & Community Support
For the past several years, Belletetes of Nashua has generously hosted one of our United Way Donation Boxes. You can find the donation box prominently placed next to the cash register. Your donations support United Way programs like our Pop Up Food Pantries, Learn United, Wee Read United for preschool children, Tech Connect United, and other essential community supports.
Belletetes Inc. also supports the community in other ways. Each August, they host a food drive to support the New Hampshire Food Bank.
Through their We Build It Forward (WBIF) program, they sponsor one-day service projects in the local community. From building wheelchair ramps to installing handrails, WBIF has tackled projects both big and small. Last year, they replaced a door at Marguerite’s Place in Nashua.
When I asked Celia Belletete, the Branch Manager of Belletetes of Nashua, why she chose to support the United Way’s cause, she answered simply:
“You donate because it’s what you should do. It’s the right thing to do.”
Belletetes: Personalized Service and Local Expertise”
Whether you’re a homeowner patching a hole in your wall or a contractor building a new home, Belletetes has you covered. From concrete to roofing, they offer everything you need to build from the ground up—always striving to provide high-quality products at fair prices.
Celia Belletete described it this way:
“We partner with members of the community and businesses in the community to build.”
So, why choose Belletetes over a big box store? According to Celia, it all comes down to personal service.
At Belletetes, you’re not just another customer. Their experienced staff—many with backgrounds in the trades—are there to greet you, guide you, and help you find what you need. They’ll take the time to explain how to use materials properly so you can feel confident in your project.
While contractors make up much of their business, Belletetes has a lot to offer homeowners too:
🔹 Custom-cut glass and plexiglass
🔹 A full line of Benjamin Moore paints
🔹 Custom-built, pre-hung doors assembled in Jaffrey, NH and delivered for free
🔹 Kitchen, bath, flooring, and millwork products
🔹 Weber grills and propane to cover your family cookout needs
Another point of pride? – “Most of our lumber is locally sourced. I think that’s important to note right now,” Celia explained.
While Belletetes still receives wood products from Canada, much of their current framing lumber comes from Milan, New Hampshire.
A Proud Legacy of Service and Family
Celia Belletete represents the fourth generation of her family to run the business. The story began in 1898 with Eli Belletete, a French-Canadian immigrant who arrived in Jaffrey at age 15 to work in the mills. Before long, he opened a general store—selling just about everything and anything—out of the family’s home. The store was on the ground floor, and the family lived upstairs.
As times changed, so did the business. Celia’s grandfather started selling lumber out of the family garage. Over the years, Belletetes branched out into a grocery store, a hardware and lumber store, and even a horse-drawn milk delivery service! Today, the building materials business continues to thrive, with 10 locations—including a new one opening this fall in Brookline, NH.
A fifth generation of the Belletete family is now working in the business. Celia and her family are proud of their 126-year history, which has weathered two world wars and multiple economic downturns.
“We’ve got a pretty good legacy and big roots,” Celia said. “There are very few family-owned businesses that have lasted this long.”
One key to their success? Employee retention. “We care about our employees. And I hope they feel that,” she said.
